I was talking to a winemaker last week as I am looking to go on a wine-tasting trip to the Dordogne region of France. During the conversation, we veered-off on a very random tangent about growing produce & self-sufficency in this day and age,as i run a free-range chicken farm in Hertfordshire, England. It transpires that even somethng like Heinz tomato ketchup is made from tomatoes grown in their own vineyards from tomato seeds! I looked into it because i was sceptical about tomato sauce in a bottle originating from a field basked in sunshine! It appears that they have a grading-system similar to wine-tasters and that every single bottle contains tomatoes grown from source by the Heinz company - I'm still yet to find out where these "tomato vineyards" are....any suggestions welcome...!...?
